Multistation is a gaming device that will change your understanding of the laser tag arena once and forever. LASERTAG.NET has not only put the features of different laser tag devices together but also implemented the technologies that turned the new Multistation into an interactive & user-friendly piece to be remembered!
Multistation aims to solve one of the main problems of the laser tag arenas owners – it enriches the collection of gaming scenarios, attracts new visitors & entertains the existing ones. The device will also do another thing – make your arena is an outstanding and identifiable place.
Equipment for laser tag arena by LASERTAG.NET is supplied with the laser tag software that is available for your laser tag arena free of charge. It should be noted that equipment and game opportunities are progressing constantly. Along with the game, the program progresses, and the latest versions will always be available for users of the LASERTAG.NET indoor system.
CONTROL OVER GAME KITS
The laser tag software program supports management over game kits. It can help to assign them by teams, monitor the battery levels and control audio effects of built-in speakers. To activate a kit in the program, it is enough to turn it on and the connection will be set automatically. While assigning blasters and vests to the teams, diodes take on the color of the selected team. If the kit is not used in the current game, it will run into energy saving ‘sleep’ mode.
STARTING AND MANAGING THE GAME
Despite the wide functionality of our software, we have tried to make the program operational and intuitively understandable so that even an inexperienced user could run the game. We also took into account the ability to change game rules in the course of action: to add and remove players, to pause, and to send various commands to kits.
The current version of software supports game with up to four teams and offers five types of scenario: ‘Death match’, ‘Vampire’, ‘Team game’, ‘Capture of domination box’ and ‘Base capture’. Details of the scenarios, such as healing, ammunition, the possibility of respawn, utility box modes could be changed. Custom scenarios can be saved and used as an alternative to the standard.
ARENA software program supports wide opportunities of working with the stats. The current data of players and the overall results of the teams at the end of the game session are displayed in the corresponding section. Stats can be sent to print, converted to Excel format or saved in its initial format, so that the players can download it and continue the contest during their next visit to the arena.
FISCAL STATISTICS OF THE EQUIPMENT
We made an extended section with the fiscal statistics – a useful tool for accounting business dedicated to the owners of laser tag arenas. The information about all of the games and game kits that were used is fixed in our software. This statistic allows you to monitor equipment rental and only the owner of the arena has access to it.
SOUND DESIGN OF THE GAME
Arena laser tag is not just a tactical game, but an exciting action game, accompanied by bright flashes and sound effects! When developing the laser tag software program, we paid particular attention to the audio configurations to enable each arena to create its own atmosphere: pick up and save playlists for each scenario, as well as the playlist with background music to the briefing zone.
Kits for laser tag arena have built-in speakers and a set of standard audio signals that can be changed to your taste with the help of the program. There is also a possibility to play voice comments on the events taking place at the location.
A SECOND MONITOR
ARENA software program supports output to a second monitor. A second monitor, TV or projector can be placed in the briefing zone to make waiting by other teams for their turn more pleasant, and to please the fans or attract the attention of casual visitors and tourists.
Some clubs place a second monitor directly in the gaming arena, so that the players can watch the current stats.
Information is shown in the traditional style of computer ‘shooters’ on the second display. In the background, the screen will display the video: you can translate either the one suggested by default, or you can run ads of your arena.
Output function for a second monitor is implemented using the MONITOR OUT program, which is included in the software package. The program is portable and does not require installation on a hard disk.
High-speed and interference-proof Wi-Fi technology is used for communication between the equipment and host server (read more). This gives the advantage of the LASERTAG.NET system compared to systems of other manufacturers of laser tag arenas using the radio. Wi-Fi connection provides fast and smooth operation of equipment and ARENA program in the context of dynamic game.
The basic principle of arena laser tag is that all the game kits are connected by radio to such operational center as computer or laptop. It provides game stats reading, data exchange between game devices and the game control. However, laser tag arena owners are faced very often with problems inherent to weak signal, low speed of data transmission, dead zones in the far areas of the arena where the signal does not reach. These factors reduce the game dynamics, create a maze of inconvenience, lead to installation of retransmitters and make the whole system more complicated.
How to avoid it?
Choosing the type of communication to use in LASERTAG.NET system, we opt for Wi-Fi technology. It is justified to an adequate degree, so let’s consider the reasons.
RELIABLE SIGNAL AND LARGE COVERAGE AREA
Wi-Fi connection is capable to provide reliable signal of communication and high-speed data transmission over large distances. Each LASERTAG.NET game kit and extra equipment unit is fitted out with Wi-Fi module enabling communication via Wi-Fi router with operational center and between all elements of the system.
There are household and industrial routers differing significantly in characteristics and applications. We equip our arena system with industrial Wi-Fi routers whose power provides high-quality signal in indoor spaces comparable in size to a soccer field. In contrast to other technologies, such router eliminates the need for additional signal amplifiers and retransmitters.
One router is capable of providing high-quality and reliable signal at every point of labyrinth with area of about 500 square meters. Communication between operational center and game equipment without additional signal transmitters, using nothing but the router, makes arena system more reliable, easier and more convenient to operate.
In addition, such routers are available in any electronic store. This means that if any technical problem occurs, you can carry out the replacement promptly. Such easy replaceability of any element increases overall reliability of the system in its entirety.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION OF MANY DEVICES
An important property of Wi-Fi technology is the ability to connect simultaneously, a large number of devices. We can read game stats and control all available kits in synch. It is very convenient for the administrator, staff and players themselves.
Game kit or extra devices are automatically connected to operational center and available for the administrator immediately after activation. Due to data high-speed transmission, all commands are sent in seconds flat. This important feature allows displaying game stats and controlling the game on a real-time basis.
INTERFERENCE PROTECTION AND MULTIPLE CHANNELS
Laser tag arenas are often located in shopping or entertainment centers. Scores of people involve active use of radio signals with different frequencies. This is due to mobile phones, automobile smart keys, alarm systems or independent Wi-Fi routers. Two more W-Fi features play an important role here. These are interference protection and multiple channels.
Due to interference protection, your signal is not suppressed and weakened by interferences from various devices.
A little bit more about multiple channels.
You can select 1 of the 14 channels to create Wi-Fi network. This allows you to avoid interferences in a situation where there are several W-Fi networks in one building.
The router can select the best connection channel in automatic mode, but if there is no such a function, you can easily do it manually. Using Wi-Fi Analyzer program, determine the least loaded channel and select it in router configurations. The figure shows that channel 14 is not used, so it can be reserved by your network.
All problems which have already become a day-to-day nuisance for many laser tag arenas are avoided by the use of professionally configured and balanced system based on Wi-Fi connection.
LASERTAG.NET Arena is a synthesis of many years’ experience and modern developments in the field of laser tag equipment. Undoubtedly, Wi-Fi technology implementation is a new step in arena laser tag development and shaping factor of the future trends.
